Bumble is a location-based social and dating application which facilitates communication between users. The app permits only women to start a chat with their matches. Bumble was founded in 2014 by the Co-founder of Tinder, Whitney Wolfe. Bumble is popularly regarded as “feminist Tinder”. Bumble have over three million active users. Bumble app is designed with functionality and minimalism in mind. The app is based on swiping the profiles of the users, which looks and works excellent. It is available for free download from IOS app store and Google play.
Facebook is the only way to sign up. Bumble uses your name, age, school, job, location and photos from facebook to create your profile. It requires a certain number of friends from your Facebook to ensure you are real. Profile customization on Bumble is relatively standard, you are allowed to upload up to six photos and add a small “About you” section. When your profile is completed, you set the area of interests, gender, age and location distance. Women can sign up freely but men need to be invited by the female users.
You discover people nearby on Bumble right from the home screen of the app. You opt to connect with others by swiping right, and when you do, you add them to your “Hive”. So when two people mutually add each other to their hive then only the female can send a message within 24 hours- otherwise, the connection disappears. In the case of same-sex hook-ups, either person must make a move in 24 hours before the connection disappears forever. Each person can extend one connection a day for additional 24 hours. You can go back if you swipe the wrong way, but only three times. Bumble backtrack feature lets you take back accidental left swipes. Users can also send each other direct photo messages by using the direct photo messaging feature.
Bumble also has some unique features; like the BFF features to find new friends, users will see their potential dates replaced by people of the same sex that Bumble thinks you should be friends with.
